Our Cordyceps

The Cordyceps we use is naturally grown Cordyceps Sinesis which is dried and processed using age old traditional methods. From the outset we made a decision not to use low grade Cordyceps because it is simply not effective for use in fertility treatment, so it would be misleading to promote it as such.

Naturally, wild grown cordyceps or Cordyceps sinesis is a fungus which uses the lepidopteran larvae as its natural host, and is commonly found in the high mountain meadows of Northern China and Tibet. These fungi were originally discovered by herdsmen grazing their livestock in these high summer pastures centuries ago. They noticed that their animals became noticeably stronger and healthier after grazing in these pastures and eventually discovered that it was this strange fungus (cordyceps) that was causing this remarkable effect. Since these early times Cordyceps sinesis have been incorporated in traditional Oriental medicine and became known in certain regions as King Cordyceps. It is considered one of the foremost treatments for the enhancement of internal harmony and balance in the body’s internal systems and for promoting both energy and robust health. In this respect it has long been used as a fertility treatment both for women and men and in particular for women for “the strengthening of the womb” as it was referred to in traditional terminology.

Cordyceps Quality & Pricing

The name cordyceps itself can be a little misleading however as there are different varieties of this fungus and equally important, there are different types of hosts which it is grown from. This is especially true of cultured or farmed cordyceps which are commonly grown on soya beans or other plant hosts. This is known to adversely affect the quality of the cordyceps as their bioactive effectiveness has been linked to the hosts which they are grown on. Farmed cordyceps using plant hosts are generally considered to be of inferior quality. In Chinese traditional terms this is said to be due to the power or "Chi" that is absorbed by the cordyceps from it’s natural, larvae host which is absent when it is grown on plant hosts or even on different insect hosts.

While farmed cordyceps are often promoted as being organically grown and scientifically cultured and so on, the fact is that they simply do not have comparable bioactivity levels to those which are naturally grown. This difference is reflected in both the price and availability of these cordyceps. Cultured cordyceps are farmed worldwide are both readily available and sold at quite low prices, commonly via the internet, and as such are generally perceived as being a “good deal” to many prospective buyers who may not be unaware of these important differences. But sadly there is no real bargain in this, especially when the product is taken in the context of fertility treatment.

As those involved know, when it comes to herbal fertility treatment, whether it is in conjunction with IVF treatment or those who take it to assist with natural conception, there is a lot at stake. People are not only investing their time and money, they are investing their hopes and dreams in the future of their families.

In such cases people need to carefully consider all the factors involved and what it is they are ultimately aiming for. To ending up losing everything by taking what on the surface appears to be a "good deal" would end up being very costly indeed. One might do well to consider the old adage. You get what you pay for and when something seems too good to be true, chances are it is exactly that.

The Reishi Mushroom known by the scientific name of Ganoderma Lucidum, is the best known and most thoroughly studied of all the medicinal mushrooms in Traditional Chinese medicine. The word Reishi is the ancient Japanese word for this mushroom and has several meanings, including “immortal plant” and “auspicious plant”, and due to potential health benefits and lack of side effects, it has been referred to in modern times as the ultimate herbal remedy.
